Background
The man
behind Levelblu is producer, guitarist, and
multi-instrumentalist Greg Minnick. Based in Miami, levelblu's style is
an international mix of American roots with downtempo, chill,
world, lounge,
combined with electronic and jazz.
Greg Minnick
has just put the final touches on levelblu's debut
album,
entitled, A Lazy Time Of
Day where he
explores a meld of chill, jazz,
electro, world fusion, swing, bossa nova, hip hop, downtempo and samba.
The featured guests include:
DAWN BASHAM, LAUREN
CARTER, LOLA FULIN, CHRIS WORTH, RICHARD
BROOKENS, PAUL
BANMAN, and FRED NAPOLITANO.
One highlight of levelblu is the
velvet, funky, and
instinctive guitar
playing as well as the compositions and unique sound of the production.
Danceable tunes are combined with chill tracks and more radio friendly
tunes are combined with an electronic edge.
Over the
last
2 decades Greg has emerged himself in Rock, Jazz, Dance,
House, Rock and West Indian Music including the musical cultures of
Brazil and India. He has recorded and shared the stage with numerous
artists and bands. He has had international releases and remixes
in dance, pop, chill and downtempo.
His songs
have
been featured this year on MTV and VH1. He also has
songs on Pink and Ludarcris’s “Making The Video”.
Greg
moved to Miami, Florida
at 14 where he began playing the guitar and performing in local
bands. He performed and traveled with
different
name
acts including "DeBarge" and "The Beginning Of The End." throughout the
US and the
islands.
He
began
studies in music at Miami Dade College where he studied
composition, jazz and classical music with Vincent Bredice.
He studied musical arranging and began writing horn and string
arrangements while producing various records at Criteria, New River
Studios and Sunshine Sound. He became in demand as a guitarist
and had the opportunity to work with the name acts performing shows and
tours from Miami as a starting point.
He opened Lifetime Records in the
80’s recording eclectic acts from R&B and Dance, He wrote and
produced the first release, “Ooh Baby Don’t Stop” featuring Amir.
He also has been orchestrating and producing CDs for Columbia
Pictures , Warner Brothers and Alfred Publishing since 1988.
Greg’s style
evolved and transitioned from rock, dance, pop and blues,
to the jazz, rock, house, lounge, funk and electronic dance
music of his generation.
He wrote and produced the worldwide dance anthem,
"Stay Inside My Life" featuring Andricka Hall. It was remixed by Jamie
Lewis of Purple Music and has been on numerous compilations.
Greg recorded on "The Soulful Sessions" with Shakira’s band members;
Albert Sterling Menendez and Rico Suarez where they also performed live
at The Winter Music Festival. He recently performed with
three-time Tony winner, Audra McDonald.
In 2004 and 2005, he performed with the New World
Symphony's 80 piece orchestra on guitar in South Beach, Florida.
In 2007 he performed
"The Golden Age" by Shostakovitch with them and Yo Yo Ma was
their special guest on
"The Concerto in G minor."
His music
productions moves back and forth between musical styles from
the Jet Set chillout downtempo era to the soulful dance, electronica
and smooth ambient guitar.
